Devs’ host FC United in Friendly on Sunday.
Huddersfield Town Women’s Development Squad welcome FC United to the Stafflex Arena this Sunday.
The match kicks off at 2pm as usual, but there will be no live match updates on Twitter because Town are committed to supporting and uniting against Social Media abuse; the Club is therefore boycotting the internet for the weekend.
The Terriers play their fourth home friendly in five weeks this weekend after their season was cancelled earlier this year. The team are in fine form, too, beating two of the three teams they have come up against in recent weeks.
Last time out, Town failed to hold onto the lead against Ossett United’s first team after Tara Duce registered a brace and Abbygayle scored her first goal for the club. Town, however, are back after a week off and ready for the challenge to put things right.
When asked if the team are ready for another challenge this weekend, Devs’ manager Lee Briggs said:
“Yes, personally I believe the team is ready for another good challenge this week, after having last week off.”
Town have gained momentum in recent weeks, beating Bradford City and Durham back-to-back. Briggs is aware of this and is ready to build on that and improve on minor mistakes
“We’ll look to stop silly little lapses in concentration during the game. Also, the group need to be a little bit harder to beat. I’m really happy with the group going forward and our football we play.”
The first team came up against FC United in a preseason friendly, having beaten their opponents 3-0 on the day as a Laura Elford hattrick saw Town win away from home. Briggs continued:
“We [the Devs] have not played FC United before. The first team did in pre season and I had reports of them been a good side.”
This fixture will be a new challenge for the Terriers, but not one they will be afraid of and is set to be another exciting game. With the Devs having scored eight goals in three games post-third lockdown already, they will look to add to that tally this weekend.
