WEST BROMWICH ALBION WFC vs HUDDERSFIELD TOWN WFC SUNDAY 10TH NOVEMBER 2019, WALSALL WOOD FC, WS9 9NP, 2PM KO
Huddersfield Town Women travel to the Black Country to face West Bromwich Albion Women on Sunday afternoon.
It will be the Terriers’ first league outing in four weeks, after their fixture with Middlesbrough was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch a fortnight ago.
This weekend will also come three weeks on from their last outing, in which Town hammered Sheffield FC Women 7-2 to set up a round of sixteen tie in the FA WNL Cup.
Goals from Katie Nutter, Sarah Danby and Ellie White and a brace from both Leah Embley and top-scorer Lucy Sowerby ensured an emphatic victory at the Stafflex Arena as the hosts looked to get back to winning ways after their defeat to Burnley in the previous game.
Manager Ashley Vickers is pleased by his side’s application, but still wants to see more quality from his players.
“We haven’t been at our best so far. We’ve shown glimpses but not consistency so we need to start that from now.”
West Brom have given some of the league’s top sides difficult battles already this season, and Vickers knows his team need to be up for the fight.
“We know that West Brom will be another tough challenge. In this division, anyone can beat anyone on their day so we need to be ready.”
Despite a lack of matchday action last month, Town’s man at the helm is confident that his players are ready and raring to get back up to speed and set about league leaders Sunderland.
“We are really looking forward to getting back to league action on Sunday.
Training has been brilliant recently so we know we just need to take that into our games now and we will start to climb the table.
That starts with West Brom on Sunday.”
