NOTTINGHAM FOREST RESERVES 2 – 2 TOWN WOMEN DEVELOPMENT, (3 – 3 AET)
5-4 PENALTIES  (FAWNL RESERVE LEAGUE CUP SEMI FINAL)

After the 5-0 success against local rivals Bradford City a fortnight ago, the terriers were in semi final action making the trip south to Nottinghamshire to entertain Nottingham Forest.

A buoyant town started the game really and were causing the hosts problems early on. Although against the run of the play Nottingham Forest opened the scoring after Claire Goater expertly fired past town stopper Laura Carter outside the area to put early pressure on the terriers.

Town responded in  a positive manner and just 10 minutes town were back level from the unlikeliest of goal scorers and Leoni Price tried her luck from all of 40 yards, the ball cannoned off the cross bar and over the line to warm this cup tie up.

Numerous chances followed for both sides but town were deservedly in front in the 31st minute, Captain Tara Duce’s excellent corner was cleared to the edge of the box, only to fall nicely for Town midfielder Alice Linsell to drill the ball home to put the terriers in the driving seat.

The hosts were back level 5 minutes into the second half which meant for an exciting finish in as the Nottinghamshire night sky started to come in.

A resurgent, spirited town continued to create chances as both Macy Ellis and Cassidy Clift hit the bar and post

respectively which would have Put town in the final. The game went through to extra time only for town to get ahead again, after some great build up play Macy Ellis kept her composure to once again fired town back into the lead. Although controversially town were denied a spot in the FAWNL Reserve Cup final as in the dying embers of the game Forest striker Annabel McKechnie headed home the rebound after a world class save from Laura Carter, the goal coming after 30+3 minutes of extra time.

Unfortunately terriers captain Tara Duce fired her penalty onto the crossbar, after 5 successes from Nottingham Forest Town crashed out of the cup.
