HTWFC – Serena Fletcher

Huddersfield Town Women are delighted to announce that Serena Fletcher has signed from Blackburn Rovers for the 2020/21 season.

Welcome to HTWFC! - Serena Fletcher

The 21-year-old, who has also played for Bradford City, Man United, Liverpool, Man City and Leicester, is thrilled to be at the club.

“I’m excited to be able to absorb information from Jordan and other staff to be able to work with the team to get results and win games and I can’t wait to get started.”

The English midfielder has wasted no time in finding herself at home at the Terriers.

“All the girls are so welcoming! Right from the first session I thought I’d played with them forever. I can really feel team cohesion within the squad.”

COVID-19 caused the 2019/20 season to be declared null and void by the FA on March 26th and, with full-team training only being allowed by the government within the last few weeks, pre-season planning is finally in full swing.

“Preparations for pre-season are piecing together and it will be exciting to see what us as a team will be able to showcase.”

“Despite training under difficult circumstances, as a team we understand our targets so it hasn’t impacted us that much as we are driven to achieve these goals.”

Town’s first game of pre-season takes place at Shelley FC this Sunday, August 9th, and Fletcher is hoping to make her debut, albeit unofficially, and is determined to leave her mark on every competition in 2020/21.

“It would be an honour to be able to make my debut for the club and be able to contribute my aspects to the team to help us be successful.”

There have been multiple changes to management and backroom staff in the Terriers’ off season, but Fletcher – along with the rest of the squad – believes that they should be aiming for the top.

“This season, I would like to be able to help the girls and staff to be successful this season and gain promotion.”

“As a team, we would like to be able to show teams what we’re about and be able to win games and be successful this season, which again means achieving promotion.”
