Huddersfield Town Women’s Development Squad will be aiming for a second victory in three days as they travel to South Yorkshire to take on Barnsley in a pre-season friendly.
Town are on the road again, but this time staying local, as they travel to Wombwell Town FC hoping for victory against their Yorkshire opponents Barnsley.
The Terries began their pre-season over the weekend as they travelled to West Bromwich Albion. The friendly ended in victory for Town with goals from under-18s players Alyssa and Laura and a brace from a trialist.
After the game, Mo Mouelhi was thrilled with the team’s performance.
“It was a very good game, I enjoyed not just the score line, but the way we played. We put our game plan from training and just implemented that, the players did a fantastic job.”
Building on for their next friendly, Town can only take a string of positives from their last outing with them forward. The Terriers are in the same league as this evening’s oppositions development team; however, will take on their first team.
Barnsley’s first team are in the Division North One league, but Town will not let that effect their preparations for the game.
Mouelhi continued: “Barnsley will give us a different challenge (from West Brom) as we are playing against their first team.
“We have been preparing for the game as we have been in training for a few weeks working on different aspects of the game.”
A second game in three days will be a real test for these young players, but with more players being available for this tie, we anticipate another exciting game.
With Wombwell Town FC and Barnsley allowing fans in for this friendly, Town Devs welcome fans back for one of their games for the first time in over a year.
