Huddersfield Town Women’s Development Team travel to Hadley Stadium on Sunday for their first friendly of the 2021/22 season as they take on West Bromwich Albion.
The match will kick off at 14:45 and Town will be hoping to continue the same way they ended last season, in winning ways!
The Terriers are set to play their first friendly of seven with a trip to the West Midlands and the “fear nobody” mentality set on by ex-manager Lee Briggs will still be in the back of the teams mind.
The Development Team have not come against their opponents before, however, our first team are in the FAWNL alongside the Baggies.
Town gained momentum in their five friendlies in the post-season run and Mo Mouelhi has been speaking on the team returning to action:
“We are ready, in the first few training sessions back, we seen a lot of positivity and eagerness in the squad. Players are enjoying being back and we will certainly go from strength to strength as we train more and play more pre-season games.”
Despite last season being halted because of the pandemic, Mouelhi continued to talk about how the team can build on their efforts last year:
“The results for last season were really good. We worked together in a lot of aspects of the game and we seen players improve. That will be the foundation of this season, plus new players will offer more strength to the squad.”
Over the coming weeks, the Terriers face five of seven friendlies away from the Stafflex but Mouelhi is not worried about being on the road.
“I think we have selected very good pre-season fixtures that offers us real tests and different challenges. Also it will help players to have game time and develop as a team.“
Town will be looking to start their pre-season off with a win on Sunday.
