Huddersfield Town Women Devs are in cup action this Sunday against Chorley in the FA Women’s National League Reserves Cup.
The Devs are on a good run of form coming into this one recording back-to-back 4-1 victories over Liverpool Feds and Brighouse Town in the league.
The Terriers have made it to the quarter-finals of the cup after beating Stockport County Reserves and Durham Cestria Reserves in 5-1 and 4-2 victories respectively.
At the start of the season, Town travelled to Chorley in the league with the whistling concluding a 2-2 stalemate in Lancashire. This weekend the Devs will be aiming for a better outcome and to come out on top to send them into the semi-finals.
But their opponents Chorley Reserves are in great form themselves, having not lost in all competitions September and beating Brighouse Town 3-1 in the first round to earn a trip to the Stafflex in the quarter-finals.
Speaking ahead of the game, Devs manager Alan Eastwood is feeling confident: “We’ve trained extremely hard and as a solid unit again this week. The players now realise that Steve (Winterburn) and I have high expectations of them and they understand we are trying to get the very best out of them. We know what went wrong against them in the league and we’re going to try to put that right on Sunday”.
“It’s certainly not a break and/or chance to take our foot off the gas. It’s important to build momentum and we’ll be going out on Sunday with the main goal of performing well and improving even further from last week. Chorley is a very good side and it’s important we don’t take our eye off the ball.”
Huddersfield Town Devs welcome Chorley Women Reserves to the Stafflex Arena for a 13:00 kick off on Sunday, and fans are more than welcome to come down and cheer the team on.
