MATCH PREVIEW: Liverpool Feds vs Huddersfield Town Women Devs

Town will be aiming to start the new year with a positive result as they face Liverpool Feds at Jericho Lane.

After a six-goal thriller against Durham in the cup, Town travel to Merseyside where they hope to extend their superb form into 2022 against a Liverpool Feds side that can overtake Town’s league position with a win on Sunday.

Although it has been a while since the Terriers last played, their willingness to stay undefeated in the league certainly won’t have changed. Town boast the highest goal difference in the league so far this season, with a staggering 22 goals, and will be seeking to add even more to the tally.

Despite having the same number of wins as Town, Liverpool Feds have lost four games this season, placing them just behind Town in the table. With that being said, both sides will give it their all to move up the table.

Last time out, Town secured all three points in the season opener against Liverpool Feds, with goals from Macy Ellis, Kayley Hird and Falone Sumaili.

A win on Sunday could potentially see Alan Eastwood’s Huddersfield Town side recapture their place at the top of the table. Manager Alan Eastwood shared his thoughts ahead of the game:

“We need to continue the year as we left off. We have played well so far and we’re improving week by week but we know we have the potential to be even better. Work that extra 5 minutes, score a half chance, throw our bodies on the line to protect the goal at every opportunity and don’t regret anything.”

“The players have had a well deserved break and we asked that they came back this week hitting the ground running in training and the effort has been fantastic. It’s about transferring this effort onto the pitch against a strong, physical side and giving our all once again like we have done for most of the season.”

Town travel to Liverpool for a 2:30pm kick off on Sunday, and live match updates will be on Twitter and Instagram at @htafcwomendevs throughout the afternoon.
