Town Women make the 300 mile trip to Scotland to face Celtic in an exciting contest on Sunday afternoon.
The pre season fixture is a 12pm kick off at K Park Training Academy with the meeting the first for the team from West Yorkshire.
Celtic currently play in the Scottish Women’s Premier League the top division of Women’s football in Scotland, having also qualified last season for the Champions League as they made history with a win over Motherwell to secure a dream Champions League spot.
Manager Jordan Wimpenny looks ahead to the fixture with further pre season games on the roster against Fleetwood Town, Blackburn, Liverpool and Sheffield United to come before the season commences.
After a whole season in charge Wimpenny will look to assess his chances ahead of Sunday alongside the competitive nature of the opposition, with this game his first opportunity to analyse the group from the conclusion of last season ahead of the forthcoming season.
“We are looking forward to starting the new campaign with a trip to Celtic who have had a very successful season themselves and will no doubt make it difficult for us come Sunday. The game will be a challenging fixture but one that will kick start our pre season.”
Wimpenny knows competition will be fierce ahead of the upcoming season. He believes this pre season will and should be vital for the players in preparation for a big season ahead
“We know the level of teams within our league this year and we need a solid pre season to help us prepare the best way possible.”
