Paige Crossman signs!

Huddersfield Town Women are delighted to announce the signing of Paige Crossman.

The defender signs from Sheffield FC, having also played for Leicester City and West Bromwich Albion and is thrilled to join Town.

“It feels great to be joining Huddersfield, especially after such a long break. I’ve not played competitive football since October now, but I’ve been keeping myself fit in the meantime so I’m ready. It feels good to be back out on the field.”

The 28-year-old takes the vacant no.12 shirt and can’t wait to get started with her new teammates.

“The team have had a brilliant season; they’ve been doing spectacularly well. I’ve come here to continue to progress and everyone has made me feel really welcome. I can’t wait to get going and help this Club get to where it wants to be.”

Crossman has played in the FA Women’s National League since the age of 16 and has enjoyed success in the division before. This impressed First Team manager Jordan Wimpenny, who spoke highly of the latest addition to his squad.

“As a club we are very happy to have signed Paige. She is an experienced player who we feel can add qualities to our side.

Paige is a defensive-minded player with a forward-thinking approach and will suit the way in which we play. We have had news of injuries recently and for us we must remain a strong squad with depth to allow us to keep our performances consistent. Paige will help us do that.”

It is not yet clear if Crossman will feature in the FA Cup game against Brighouse Town this weekend, but she would be available for selection if the Terriers progress to round four of the competition.

Crossman’s arrival comes at a convenient time as defender Beth Stanfield pulled up with a torn hamstring in midweek, meaning Town’s no.2 misses this weekend’s game and the remainder of the season. Everyone at the Club is behind Beth, wishes her well and will support her on her road to recovery
