5-0 Friendly defeat for Town Women’s Development Squad.
Huddersfield Town Womens’ Development Squad were in action over the weekend against Ossett United Womens’ first team
Lee Briggs and his team headed to Ingfield Stadium to play Ossett on Sunday in their first friendly of the 2020/21 season build-up.
Ossett took the lead early on after a corner from the right was headed towards Jordan Cheetham who fired in a rocket to bag the first goal of the game.
The first half goals didn’t end there when Ellie Betteridge put Ossett 2-0 up in the 25thminute. Jordane Allison made it 3-0 after an incredible 30-yard out shot caught Town keeper Laura Carter off her line.
During the first half, 16-year-old Gaby was substituted onto the field. The youngster impressed manager Briggs with her performance throughout the game. Chances for Town were few and far between during the first 45 and, despite heading into the second half 3-0 down, they had plenty of chances in the second half.
But, the second half saw more goals for the home side.
Chloe Marshall and Charlotte Adams were on hand to add to the scoreline for Ossett after both players were brought off the bench for their debut games.Tara Duce had a few shots on goal and Town got close on numerous occasions during the second half, forcing Ossett United keeper Aleathia Smith into a lot of saves which helped her side keep a clean sheet.
Despite the 5-0 loss, there were many positives to take away from the defeat and into the next game.
