Steel City Wanderers 0 – 7 HTWFC U11’S
The first half started slow while both teams got to know each other. Huddersfield had the better of the chances with some good play all round.
The first goal came on 15 minutes with a cross from the right by Harriet Oldfield that fell kindly to Esmay Clarke who hit it past the keeper into the bottom right corner. Steel City still pressed well on the counter and their number 8 had a couple of decent opportunities but some excellent defending from Town kept them out.
Huddersfield came out in the second half all fired up and passed the ball around well and the second goal came on 41 minutes with good pressure from Imogen Ward causing the Steels defender to slice a clearance onto their own player and in for an own goal to make it 0-2.
P.O.M Alysia Singh then went on to score a very impressive hat-trick with goals on 44, 45 and 49 minutes with the help from yet more pressing midfield work and short corner routines from the likes of, Esmay Clarke, Izzy Cleverley and Harriet Oldfield.
Steel City kept up the pressure and played some lovely football themselves but like the first half Town’s excellent defensive work from Ruby Hackney, Natalie Ampofo and Ellie Adams along with some great saves from Madison Hamilton, who kept another clean sheet, kept Steel City from getting a goal.
Imogen then made it 0-6 to Town with a great finish from Ellie’s cross from the right on 51 minutes followed by a long throw in from Izzy, on 56 minutes, that fell to Alysia to flick the ball on to Harriet and hit it past the keeper for 0-7.
An excellent all round team performance from Town.
