Huddersfield Town Women return to the Stafflex Arena to take on Sheffield FC in the Second Round of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup.

Bad weather meant that our tie against Sheffield FC was lost to a frozen pitch last week but now Storm Arwen has passed, and the team are ready to face their South Yorkshire counterparts. The fixture was reversed to be played at home following reports of a waterlogged pitch at the Home of Football Stadium, Dronfield.

Town will be looking to make it into the Third Round yet again and will look favourably at Sunday’s tie, having already beaten Sheffield FC at The Home of Football Stadium already this season six goals to nil last month.

Sheffield FC have not been on the best of form, only picking up one win courtesy of a penalty shootout against Sutton Coldfield Town. Their last win within 90 minutes came at the beginning of October when they dispatched Hull City 4-0.

Should Town make their way past Sunday’s opponents then a home tie is on the cards with Loughborough Lightning – a team Town already dispatched five goals to one earlier this season.

Last time out in the cup Town took a battering ram to a very resilient Sir Tom Finney FC Ladies team, Twenty goals and nine goal scorers that afternoon at the Stafflex Arena. Development captain and centre half Kayley Hird coming off the bench to make her first team debut and grabbed herself a goal late on to round off a well-rounded performance for Town.

Since then, Town have changed manager with Glen Preston being announced as the new manager and got his first win under his belt when his side thrashed promotion-chasing AFC Fylde. During this game Town made a strong start and held the intensity throughout and came away with the three points. Laura Elford, Ria Montgomery and Kate Mallin with the goals for Preston’s side.
