Town Women welcome Blackburn to West Yorkshire in an interesting tie on the agenda on Sunday afternoon.
The pre season fixture is a 2pm kick off at the Stafflex Arena with the meeting allowing fans in through the gate on West Yorkshire turf.
Blackburn currently play in the FA Women’s Championship within the Women’s football Pyramid in Lancashire. As the Blue and Whites return to action they will see some familiar faces in Serena Fletcher, Becky Flaherty who previously featured for the club.
Previously Huddersfield played out a dominant contest at Fleetwood Town Wrens. Nine goals during the game blew away the hosts in scorching conditions up in Lancashire in which Town were ruthless in front of goal.
Manager Jordan Wimpenny assesses his sides chances ahead of Blackburn looking to register another win this time on home soil. Wimpenny is aware this is the first pre season game at the Stafflex Arena.
“We will look to build on our previous performance so far within pre season. We know Blackburn will be a tough game but one we are very much looking forward too. A championship side who will most definitely cause us problems but another important game for our pre season preparations. Clean sheets and goals are what you always try to achieve and we will do what we can to help achieve our objectives.”
Defensively last game Huddersfield were solid as ever at the back. When questioned on switching up reinforcements at the back, Wimpenny said:
“We are a versatile team with many different options at the moment minutes are important for players but also it’s a chance for us to see how the team may look going into the new season and how we are taking shape.”
The Town manager admits this game is a great opportunity for the two new signings Becky and Autumn to stamp their authority in the team just before the season commences.
“We have had some new faces around the team and all those players will want to impress and show what they can bring because like all players they will want to feature when the season starts.”
