Towns U12’s 2nd round cup match versus a very resilient Barnsley

Huddersfield Town Women U12s 1- 0 Barnsley Ladies U12’s

Towns 2nd round cup match was due to be away against Barnsley however the fixture ended up being reversed and played at the stafflex as Barnsleys pitch was waterlogged.

Towns performance was nowhere near there usual best however they did score early in the game as Lucia Morrison latched onto a lovely through and slotted the ball into the bottom corner. From this point town had plenty of the ball however they struggled to break down a very resilient Barnsley defence. Half time 1-0

The 2nd half was pretty much defence against attack with town having plenty of the ball but found it hard to create many chances to add to there lead and full credit to Barnsley who continued to be resilient, determined and very enthusiastic. The game finished 1-0. Player of the match went imogen butterworth who played in various positions, looked very composed on the ball and very strong defensively.

Overall, not the best performance but another win for the u12s and they are now in the quarter finals of the cup. Next week they are back in league action as they travel to Handsworth.
