TOWN WOMEN U14’S 2 – 4 MILLMOOR JUNIORS
The Under 14s stumbled at the last hurdle in the cup final against Millmoor but played superbly in a fantastic advert for the game.
The sides had met twice already this season and after both of those games were extremely close, the third encounter of the season was no different.
Both teams started strongly with both teams putting in big hits on each other in the tackle for the entirety of the game.
Town took the lead on 20 minutes when Hannah Burgess curled a Beckham like free kick in at the near post.
Millmoor fought back and fired wide of the target a couple of times but the first half ended with neither side being given any half chances.
The physical and fair battle continued and Millmoor found an equaliser 15 minutes after the break. Town failed to clear their lines on 3 or 4 occassions and the ball fell nicely for the Millmoor striker to stab home.
Town hit straight back as 5 minutes later Firth went on a run down the left, beat the full back and squares to Burgess who strolled the ball into the bottom corner left footed.
Hall and Harris both had chances to put the game to bed but the Millmoor keeper (who was MOM) pulled off a series of spectacular saves and clearances to keep her side in it.
Going into the final minute, disaster struck for Town when a cross come shot wasn’t dealt with after a communication mix up and the ball trickled in off the back post.
The late goal clearly took its toll and hurt Town who failed to recover from the blow as Millmoor struck 2 goals in quick succession. Town had nothing left in their tank but fought to the end in another game against the reds that couldve gone either way.
AET: HTWFC 2-4 Millmoor
