TOWN WOMEN U14’s 7 – CROSSPOOL 1
Charlie Ramsden and Charlotte Holmes both scored a brace as Town defeated Crosspool in their first match for 7 weeks.
Crosspool have always been a hardworking side who like to hunt in packs and kept Town at bay for the first 25 minutes. The Terriers looked a tad rusty after so long without competitive football but the back 3 were all on their game with MOM Erin Fawcett particularly strong throughout.
It took a sublime solo strike from Ramsden who was fed the ball 20 yards out, turned and hit an unstoppable strike into the lefthand upright after 25 minutes.
A contender for goal of the season shortly followed when Crosspool looked to break out from the back, however the final ball was cut out superbly by Morgan half way inside Towns own half. 2 quick 1-2’s between her and Turner saw Firth released behind the back line to cross first time for Holmes to sidefoot home from 8 yards.
Town started the second half well and were now starting to stretch the opposition with the link up play from Ramsden, Firth, Holmes and Harris causing the opposition problems the entire second half.
Holmes smashed in a thunderbolt from a tight angle berore Turners cross turned shot somehow defied the laws of physics as her outswinging cross went in off the far post.
Libby Harris finished off another neat cross and move goal and Ramsdens second 20 yarder of the day was to poweful for the keeper to keep out.
Crosspool pulled one back with 4 minutes remaining after Town failed to clear their lines however the goal was probably deserved for the oppositions hard work throughout.
Molly Firth finished off a fine game with the last kick of the game with a fantastic placed strike from 12 yards to give Town a well deserved 3 points.
