U14’s LEAGUE: Town take three points away to Crosspool.

7th March 2020
Crosspool 0 – 4 Huddersfield Town

HTWFC U14s vs Crosspool - 070320

The under 14s battled hard in muddy conditions to earn 3 points away at Crosspool.

The Greens were dogged as always and came out to defend everything thrown st them.

Amber Ford twice got on the end of 2 Ramsden corners but the keeper saved well on both occasions.

Harris and Holmes caused the defence havoc with their link up play but just couldn’t find that extra half yard to get efforts away on goal. A goalmouth scramble saw Town hit the bar and Turner fired tamely at the keeper from the edge of the box, however the deadlock was broken on 22 minutes. Radley intercepted superbly at the back and fed Firth on the wing, some good trickery from the winger was followed up by a 35 yard cross field switch where Burgess was waiting, took 2 touches and scuffed a strike goalwards and the keeper fumbled it into the net.

3 minutes later Firth got a goal of her own after great footwork from Turner on the left, crossed for the winger to slot home from 6 yards.

Just before half time Firth again turned provider after seeing her goal bound effort put into the net by a Crosspool defender.

As the pitch continued to deteriorate, the chances came few and far between in the second half.

Town were awarded a penalty after Holmes darting run into the box saw her dragged down by an opposition player. Turner stepped up and struck the ball brilliantly only to be denied by a top class save towards the top corner by the Greens keeper.

Town made sure of the points 12 minutes from the end when Harris struck well from 8 yards to put the game beyond reach.
