22nd February 2020
Huddersfield Town 3 – 1 Worksop Town
Town came through with another three points against Worksop in an under-par performance in difficult conditions.
In a first half when the hosts were playing into a strong wind, Isobella Kington cleverly struck with a near post half volley from Laura Hulme’s cross to make it 1-0 after two minutes.
After a goalmouth scramble the Town defence failed to clear and Worksop levelled from eight yards in the 16th minute.
The visitors threatened throughout the first half but the Town defence stood firm and Town broke quickly for Mia Harris to capitalise with a clinical finish after being put through by Kington after 20 minutes.
In the 32nd minute Kington crowned an excellent player-of-the-match performance when she slid home Harris’ precision cross at the far post to make it 3-1.
In a second half when Town spent more time in the visitors half a number of chances were created but no more goals materialised.
This was a testing game against a good physical side and Town’s girls should be praised for securing their twelfth win in thirteen league outings.
A special mention for Millie Rumney and Jada Simon for a very strong performance in a commanding defence.
Next Saturday Town entertain Club Doncaster at the Stafflex Arena as their bid to secure the league title continues.
